Mazda 6 2013 diesel reliability I am looking for a family car and have my eyes laid on a Mazda 6 wagon from 2013-2014 with a 2.2 diesel motor and an auto transmission. Are these engines and gearboxes reliable?
On my 3rd Mazda 6. Owned an 09 for a few years and loved it. Never had an issue, traded it for an SUV for the wife. 3 years back I wrecked a damn near brand new car (not my fault :) ) and ended up getting into a 14 Mazda 6, had that for 2 years and now I have a 16 Mazda 6. All have been great cars. XK6 Reliability. Testament to its over-engineering, the XK6 even powered military tanks and vehicles. The engine has a distinctive melodious sound, and its inline-six configuration helps it deliver smooth performance. i know you haven't asked for alternatives in this thread, but if you're considering a Mazda 6, you should also look at something like a Ford Mondeo. Here is a Mondeo Titanium (top spec model) with 78,000km with the Mazda 2.3L engine and torque converter trans (to be on the safe side in terms reliability) for $13,990.

Should have been replaced with the other 3 according to the service schdule at around 70,000. Previous owner skipped this.
The now 200-pounds-heavier 6 rounds the skidpad at only 0.81 g and stops from 70 mph in a marginal-at-best 184 feet; both numbers are worse than the 2016 model’s. They’re also worse than the Z1fw6.
