Steering Wheel Play. Ok I'm stumped on this. Everything is tight from the gear box down to the tires. Replaced the steering box and intermediate shaft going from steering column to steering box. REMOVAL (1) Raise and support the vehicle. (2) Remove the front wheel sensor mounting bolt (Fig. 1). (3) Remove the sensor from the steering knuckle. (4) Disengage the sensor wire from the brackets (Fig. 1) on the steering knuckle. (5) Disconnect the sensor from the sensor harness (Fig. 2) and (Fig. 3).K. C. Steering wheel wiring harness(es) – 1999-2001 model Grand Cherokees use one type of harness while 2002-2004 models use a second type. The 1999-2001 steering wheel harness is very expensive. However, it’s possible to use the much cheaper 2002-up harness on 1999-2001 WJ’s.
The head unit must support a wired remote control. In order for the interface to work, you have to connect a wire to the steering wheel side of the controls. This means you can't simply connect the old harness that's in the back of your head unit now. It is a simple install though, and quite worth it. 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo - 3.6L V6.
